Layover, on the Shore will use two distinct visual styles.
Innocent Bliss
The “Innocent Bliss” portion of Layover, on the Shore will be shot on 35mm film. Partially an ode to a classic medium, 35mm will be used to create a sense of a dream-like nostalgia for the past. We will also experiment with 28-32 fps frame rates in order to capture slow, ethereal movements. The lighting will be natural—much like the Impressionist landscapes of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

After Hours
The second narrative in Layover will be shot on HD and will take full advantage of the visceral, immediate nature of this technology. HD will allow us to capture our night exteriors with a saturated, monochromatic look that best represents the nocturnal streets of downtown Honolulu.
