Donate to make this film
Accomplishing this ambitious filmmaking endeavor will take an enormous amount of time and money. Even short student films like this one cost at least tens of thousands of dollars. We must pay for equipment rentals, location usage, film and videotape stock, transportation, meals for the cast and crew—the list of expenses incurred on such projects seem almost endless.
The price of one 400 foot canister of film—just four minutes worth—is $300. A camera package for a week can cost around $5,000. I have worked hard to save as much money as I can to spend on this project. However, my entire savings do not come close to covering the cost of the project. I need your help. There are three ways in which you can help:
1) A direct contribution to the director
A direct cash/check contribution to the director is the most helpful type of contribution for a thesis film. Funds are immediately accessible to the project through a bank account that the director and producer access specifically for this film. Please contribute to us via Paypal, or a check made out to Christopher Yogi.
2) A tax-deductible contribution
A check/money order made out to Fractured Atlas, our fiscal sponsor, is a tax-deductible donation. Our production pays the fiscal sponsor, who enables us to act as a non-profit, for a processing fee of 7% of your donation. Please make check payable to Fractured Atlas, or donate via the secure Fractured Atlas website.
Layover, on the Shore is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Layover, on the Shore may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
3) An In-Kind Donation
Any other help or support, in the form of food, services, and other non-monetary donations, are also more than welcome and very much appreciated. Please contact us at layoverthefilm@gmail.com.
All checks and inquiries can be mailed to:
Although film is an expensive medium, it is also an extraordinarily powerful one. Our desire for this project is that it screens at festivals around the world, thereby revealing to many others a different side of Hawai'i. Through Layover on the Shore, we hope to show my cherished home in all its richness, beauty and complexity. Thank you!
