CHRISTOPHER MAKOTO YOGI
Director/Co-Writer

Christopher was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i.  While attending the University of Hawai'i, he completed the short film Every Night Spent Alone, which screened at the 2004 Hawai'i International Film Festival and was featured at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. 

An avid writer, Chris is the winner of the 2002 MAGMA Hawai'i short screenplay award for his short script Half Awake, and is the author of LOOSE., receiving the Highest Honors designation for an undergraduate thesis in creative fiction. Chris is currently enrolled in the MFA film program at USC, where co-edited the documentary If a Body Meet a Body, and was the writer/director of the short film Maps, which has since screened at festivals across the country.

YU GU
Producer

Yu was born in the mountain metropolis of Chongqing, China and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Fluent in French and Mandarin, she strives to build an international repertoire. Nourished by fine arts and trained in film, she has a highly visual style of storytelling.

She has produced several short films that have traveled the festival circuit in North America and abroad. She worked as an assistant producer for a Canadian production company Vivamantra Films that specializes in diverse content. Presently, she is pursuing a MFA degree in film production at University of Southern California.

WILLIAM KWOK
Producer

Born in Hong Kong, William Kwok moved when he was just a toddler to New York City. He didn't stay there for too long, however. Due to his parents' work, he spent his childhood jetting between the Big Apple, London, Hong Kong, and San Francisco.  He graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He majored in film studies and political science and minored in English literature.

William previously worked in the worlds of finance, broadcasting, and politics before deciding to pursue his lifelong dream of being a filmmaker.  Today, he resides in Los Angeles, where he is a graduate student in film production at the University of Southern California. He recently completed The Two Deaths of Los Angeles Chinatown, a broadcast-length documentary that he wrote and directed.  William spends his free time teaching his two turtles, The Annihilator and Blooming Geobuki, to ballroom dance.

EUNSOO CHO
Director of Photography

Eunsoo was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. She had a happy childhood. Many of her fondest memories include Minam, her gentle, highly intelligent Jindo dog. A graduate of the Korean National University of Arts and the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, she has shot numerous fiction and documentary shorts in Africa, Asia, and North America.

Her work on The Law of Action and Reaction won her a cinematography award at the Kodak Student Competition (Asia). Three years ago, she moved to the United States in search of the secret of American film-making. She’s not yet sure if she has found it, but she is enjoying her journey anyway.

WENDY J.N. LEE
Editor

Wendy is thrilled to be editing a Christopher Makoto Yogi film, her long-time film partner in crime. Wendy has edited a wide range of projects, from documentary, music videos, commercials, and short films. One of her recent short films, "Hoover Sucker Guy," can be seen on the DVD special features for the film Once, from Fox Searchlight.

Outside of filmmaking, Wendy is the Director of Art for the Drukpa Charitable Foundation, a non-profit devoted to preserving Himalayan culture in the face of modernization. She also is a founding member of The Magic Meathands, a community-based comedy improv troupe that serves homeless shelters and rehabilitation centers around the country. In her final year at USC School of Cinematic Arts, she is excited to be a part of a new generation of filmmakers that will change the universe.

KEVIN INOUYE
Co-Writer

Kevin lives in Honolulu where he works for the Hawaii Film Office. He is the writer and director of the short films The Tale of Haiku Jones, Wake, and Epic, which have screened at various film festivals across the country. Currently, Kevin is developing All Tomorrow's Parties, a feature film which he will write and direct.

AMANDA POPE
Faculty Mentor

Amanda has an extensive 20-year background in writing, producing, directing and editing documentary, dramatic, and advocacy programs. At the University of Southern California, she teaches courses in documentary and fiction directing. Her hour-long public television documentaries include Jackson Pollock Portrait, a classic in its genre, Stages: Houseman Directs Lear, and Cities For People. Recently, her program series Faces of Change, documented grassroots reformers and emerging leaders in seven countries of the former Soviet Union.

Currently she is partnering with former USC students on two documentaries. Art Rescuers of Nukus is a journey through an endangered world class collection of 50,000 artworks secreted away in the desert of Uzbekistan. Pancho Barnes! is a biography of a pioneer woman aviator who lived a Mae West lifestyle.

DAVID KALEO WOO
Associate Producer

Woo is a 2nd generation Asian American that puts it down for the yellow.  His other interests include reverse-racism, getting fix-it tickets, and forging scantrons.  A fan of fine art, he is also an avid collector of tattoos and Dunk SB's.

In 2007, he was awarded the John Huston Scholarship for excellence in directing at USC.  The documentary short, IF A BODY MEET A BODY, which he shot and shaped, was an official selection for the 2008 Slamdance Festival and garnered a Student Academy Award.  Most recently, he has completed his graduate thesis film, GET JUMPED IN, a brooding and personal documentary that offers a window into Asian American gang life in Southern California through the lens of the murder of his friend, Chester Chang.  Woo has just completed his MFA in Directing at USC's School of Cinematic Arts and is currently working on his first feature-length film.
